Catching Elephant is a theme by Andy Taylor
The Charles E. Egeler Reception and Guidance Center has
1. Refused to provide required medical care for Rev. Pinkney. He was scheduled three times for a physical, and three times it was cancelled.
2. Seriously restricted his phone calls. He’s not permitted to call his attorneys, and can call only one person:
his wife.
Please call the warden, Jeff White, 517-780-5600, on Monday beginning at 9am and ask why Rev. P. has not been given a physical which should have taken place within 9 days of his arrival at the “Center.” As of yesterday he has been confined for 30 days.
One more call: Patricia Caruso, Director of the Dept. of Corrections, 517-335-1426. Ask why Rev. Pinkney is being mistreated. If you find a more direct phone number for Ms. Caruso, please reply with it to this email.
“Will the unemployed Black really benefit from this land-grab? Will they practice a hole-in-one at the Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course or move into a condominium on the lakefront? Or do the deciders think employment for Blacks in Benton Harbor means work as a caddy or as a maid at the resort? This, too, we know, follows a familiar pattern: Whites live the “good life” at the expense of Black Americans by dividing the “elite” and middle class from the working class.” (Rev. Edward Pinkney: ‘Too much influence’ for one man by Dr. Lenore Jean Daniels, sfbayview.com, July 2, ‘08)
